In this second to last section of the Jurisprudence study guide, we cover Pharmacist Prescribing in Alberta. This was a fun one to record as we covered what the fundamentals of prescribing are, which include individual competence, informed consent, and many others. Next, we breezed through what the requirements are for how a pharmacist gets their additional prescribing authority, before switching over to the more heavy discussion revolving around the different situations that are considered appropriate for a pharmacist to prescribe. We’re nearing the end of our Jurisprudence Mini-Series! In this episode, we cover the section of Drug and Health Care Products. As the name suggests, we really cover the basics of what the different Drug schedules are and where you might find them, in the pharmacy or otherwise. Then we switch gears to go over the new updated Prescription Regulation Chart by the Alberta College of Pharmacy. Finally, we end the episode with a quick review of the TPP Medication List and some specific medications you should be aware of. This was a shorter episode but we hope you enjoy it nonetheless!
